6/26/14 – Put A Plug In It



I don’t care what you do, where you go or who you talk to – put a plug in it. Plug you, your business, your services or product. Slide it into a conversation as easily as you spread soft butter on a piece of bread. Because after all, connecting with people and getting them to come on board with your plans, ideas and purchase your wares is your bread and butter. Correct?

Every single email or correspondence you send out, post to your social media or text message should be followed with links to contact you easily and immediately. If it is not – you have made it hard or even impossible to reach you and you may have lost a potential contact or client. We are so bombarded nowadays with so much information and stimulation that we have to eke out whatever portion of peoples’ attention that we can…when we can, which is the moment they hit your personal space, personal page, post, blog, email, text or life/face! People are busy and they need you to make it easy peasy to find you and partake of your wonderfulness.

Remember, you only get one chance to make a good first impression.  It’s like those conversations you have that you rehash over and over and over in your head and say to yourself after you have walked away… “I should have said, a, b, c and d”.  Minimize those incidents by taking EVERY opportunity to “Put A Plug In It”. The “Plug” being you, your business, service or products and by adding a link to your contact information or site on absolutely every single printed, posted, listed, emailed, texted, telephone number and accessible item within your realm.

So the next time you talk face to face with someone, post an item on social media, leave printed material behind, send a text or email, ensure that people can reach out and touch you quickly and easily.  They only thing people want to search for is Waldo.

6/19/14 – SMUTx2



 
What is the first thought that comes to mind when you read the title, “SMUTx2”? Triple X, R-Rated, Adult Movies or Pornography?  Well since this is a G-rated networking blog, it doesn’t mean any of those things. It stands for: “Should Make You Think Twice”.

Why is it that anything controversial, scintillating, scandalous, headline worthy or attached to a celebrity is greedily consumed and lapped up like a kitten with milk? Growing your business is 10 times more important than any non-profitable time invested in following the latest TMZ episode.  You should think twice about what you commit to your psyche, how much time you actually have to devote to the latest Kardashian fiasco or whether or not Jay-Z and Beyonce comb their child’s hair or not.

More importantly, what SMUTx2 is what previous or current client have you touched base with lately to stay connected and relevant to? How many diverse networking opportunities have you participated in (not just attend a specific event, every moment or chance meeting IS an opportunity for networking)? How many people have you made one on one contact with – with no other agenda except to let them know you’re thinking about them?

The keep you up at night, make you wake up early with a drive toward success SMUTx2 moment for you should not actually be about smut, but should be about ways you can make those necessary connections through adding networking to your business development cache.

6/12/14 - You Don't Truly Want Success!



Taking a short break from the previous two posts regarding “Do You Really Need To Spend Money…To Make Money? 70+ Ways to Make More Money, Increase Your Income, Contacts & Expand Your Networking” to discuss SUCCESS.

What pathway are you taking to get your slice of the Success pie?  Some people define Success as the number of figures before the decimal. Others, as following their Entrepreneurial spirit. And still others, by raising children prepared to launch into society and make a positive contribution. All of these are fine examples but at the end of the day, Success can and should be defined as many different little things and moments and not just a solitary big thing because when the “big” thing is gone, does that mean that you are no longer successful?

When the figures before the decimal dwindle, the endeavor dies with you and doesn’t live on after you’re gone and the children leave your nest empty – does that mean you weren’t a success? No! It means that the positive contributions to the lives you made a great effort to touch and change through your interactions and resources will live on, impacting generations for 100’s of years to come. And that should be your definition of Success.

There are many opportunities to be successful. One way to Success is Networking, daily. Through Networking, you reach people and resources that you would not normally be exposed to from the confines of your brick and mortar office.  Networking successfully is not limited to meeting with a group of like-minded or branded individuals. Successful Daily Networking could be as simple as chatting with a stranger, sending a personal note to an associate, paying it forward at a toll booth or deli counter. There are many roads to Success…one of my personal favorites is Networking.  I’m passionate about bringing people, places and resources together to form a cohesive well-oiled wheel. A squeaky wheel might get the grease, but a well-oiled wheel runs smoothly!
